It was possible to bypass/evade any tcp based signature by faking a closed TCP session using an evil server. After the TCP SYN packet, it is possible to inject a RST ACK and a FIN ACK packet with a bad TCP Timestamp option. The client will ignore the RST ACK and the FIN ACK packets because of the bad TCP Timestamp option. Both linux and windows client are ignoring the injected packets.","state":"PUBLIC","assigner":"cve@mitre.org","published_at":"2020-01-06 21:15:00","updated_at":"2023-02-01 19:24:00"},"problem_types":["NVD-CWE-noinfo"],"metrics":[],"references":[{"url":"https://redmine.openinfosecfoundation.org/issues/3286","name":"https://redmine.openinfosecfoundation.org/issues/3286","refsource":"MISC","tags":["Third Party Advisory"],"title":"Bug #3286: TCP evasion technique by faking a closed TCP session - Suricata - Open Information Security Foundation","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"200"},{"url":"https://github.com/OISF/suricata/commit/9f0294fadca3dcc18c919424242a41e01f3e8318","name":"https://github.com/OISF/suricata/commit/9f0294fadca3dcc18c919424242a41e01f3e8318","refsource":"CONFIRM","tags":["Patch","Third Party Advisory"],"title":"stream: fix SYN_SENT RST/FIN injection · OISF/suricata@9f0294f · GitHub","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"200"},{"url":"https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2020/01/msg00032.html","name":"[debian-lts-announce] 20200130 [SECURITY] [DLA 2087-1] suricata security update","refsource":"MLIST","tags":[],"title":"[SECURITY] [DLA 2087-1] suricata security update","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"200"},{"url":"https://redmine.openinfosecfoundation.org/issues/3395","name":"https://redmine.openinfosecfoundation.org/issues/3395","refsource":"MISC","tags":["Third Party Advisory"],"title":"Bug #3395: TCP evasion technique by faking a closed TCP session (4.1.x) - Suricata - Open Information Security Foundation","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"200"},{"url":"https://github.com/OISF/suricata/commit/ea0659de7640cf6a51de5bbd1dbbb0414e4623a0","name":"https://github.com/OISF/suricata/commit/ea0659de7640cf6a51de5bbd1dbbb0414e4623a0","refsource":"CONFIRM","tags":["Patch","Third Party Advisory"],"title":"stream: fix SYN_SENT RST/FIN injection · OISF/suricata@ea0659d · GitHub","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"200"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2019-18625","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2019-18625","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[{"cve_year":"2019","cve_id":"18625","vulnerable":"1","versionEndIncluding":"","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"o","cpe4":"debian","cpe5":"debian_linux","cpe6":"8.0","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"},{"cve_year":"2019","cve_id":"18625","vulnerable":"-1","versionEndIncluding":"","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"o","cpe4":"linux","cpe5":"linux_kernel","cpe6":"-","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"},{"cve_year":"2019","cve_id":"18625","vulnerable":"0","versionEndIncluding":"1","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"o","cpe4":"linux","cpe5":"linux_kernel","cpe6":"-","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"},{"cve_year":"2019","cve_id":"18625","vulnerable":"-1","versionEndIncluding":"","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"o","cpe4":"microsoft","cpe5":"windows","cpe6":"-","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"},{"cve_year":"2019","cve_id":"18625","vulnerable":"0","versionEndIncluding":"1","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"o","cpe4":"microsoft","cpe5":"windows","cpe6":"-","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"},{"cve_year":"2019","cve_id":"18625","vulnerable":"1","versionEndIncluding":"","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"a","cpe4":"suricata-ids","cpe5":"suricata","cpe6":"5.0.0","cpe7":"-","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"},{"cve_year":"2019","cve_id":"18625","vulnerable":"1","versionEndIncluding":"1","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"a","cpe4":"suricata-ids","cpe5":"suricata","cpe6":"5.0.0","cpe7":"-","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"}],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"CVE_data_meta":{"ASSIGNER":"cve@mitre.org","ID":"CVE-2019-18625","STATE":"PUBLIC"},"affects":{"vendor":{"vendor_data":[{"product":{"product_data":[{"product_name":"n/a","version":{"version_data":[{"version_value":"n/a"}]}}]},"vendor_name":"n/a"}]}},"data_format":"MITRE","data_type":"CVE","data_version":"4.0","description":{"description_data":[{"lang":"eng","value":"An issue was discovered in Suricata 5.0.0.
