In versions prior to 1.9.0, a user supplied `X-Forwarded-Host` header can be used to perform cache poisoning of a cache fronting a Ratpack server if the cache key does not include the `X-Forwarded-Host` header as a cache key. Users are only vulnerable if they do not configure a custom `PublicAddress` instance. For versions prior to 1.9.0, by default, Ratpack utilizes an inferring version of `PublicAddress` which is vulnerable. This can be used to perform redirect cache poisoning where an attacker can force a cached redirect to redirect to their site instead of the intended redirect location. The vulnerability was patched in Ratpack 1.9.0. As a workaround, ensure that `ServerConfigBuilder::publicAddress` correctly configures the server in production.","state":"PUBLIC","assigner":"security-advisories@github.com","published_at":"2021-06-29 15:15:00","updated_at":"2021-07-08 15:42:00"},"problem_types":["NVD-CWE-Other"],"metrics":[],"references":[{"url":"https://portswigger.net/web-security/web-cache-poisoning","name":"https://portswigger.net/web-security/web-cache-poisoning","refsource":"MISC","tags":[],"title":"Web cache poisoning | Web Security Academy","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"200"},{"url":"https://github.com/ratpack/ratpack/security/advisories/GHSA-w6rq-6h34-vh7q","name":"https://github.com/ratpack/ratpack/security/advisories/GHSA-w6rq-6h34-vh7q","refsource":"CONFIRM","tags":[],"title":"Cached redirect poisoning via X-Forwarded-Host header · Advisory · ratpack/ratpack · GitHub","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"404"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2021-29479","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2021-29479","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[{"cve_year":"2021","cve_id":"29479","vulnerable":"1","versionEndIncluding":"","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"a","cpe4":"ratpack_project","cpe5":"ratpack","cpe6":"*","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"}],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[{"cve":"CVE-2021-29479","qid":"981301","title":"Java (maven) Security Update for io.ratpack:ratpack-core (GHSA-w6rq-6h34-vh7q)"}]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"CVE_data_meta":{"ASSIGNER":"security-advisories@github.com","ID":"CVE-2021-29479","STATE":"PUBLIC","TITLE":"Cached redirect poisoning via X-Forwarded-Host header"},"affects":{"vendor":{"vendor_data":[{"product":{"product_data":[{"product_name":"ratpack","version":{"version_data":[{"version_value":"< 1.9.0"}]}}]},"vendor_name":"ratpack"}]}},"data_format":"MITRE","data_type":"CVE","data_version":"4.0","description":{"description_data":[{"lang":"eng","value":"Ratpack is a toolkit for creating web applications.
