In multiple places, TensorFlow uses `tempfile.mktemp` to create temporary files. While this is acceptable in testing, in utilities and libraries it is dangerous as a different process can create the file between the check for the filename in `mktemp` and the actual creation of the file by a subsequent operation (a TOC/TOU type of weakness). In several instances, TensorFlow was supposed to actually create a temporary directory instead of a file. This logic bug is hidden away by the `mktemp` function usage. We have patched the issue in several commits, replacing `mktemp` with the safer `mkstemp`/`mkdtemp` functions, according to the usage pattern. Users are advised to upgrade as soon as possible.","state":"PUBLIC","assigner":"security-advisories@github.com","published_at":"2022-02-04 23:15:00","updated_at":"2023-07-13 14:28:00"},"problem_types":["CWE-367"],"metrics":[],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/security/advisories/GHSA-wc4g-r73w-x8mm","name":"https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/security/advisories/GHSA-wc4g-r73w-x8mm","refsource":"CONFIRM","tags":[],"title":"Insecure temporary file · Advisory · tensorflow/tensorflow · GitHub","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"404"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2022-23563","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2022-23563","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[{"cve_year":"2022","cve_id":"23563","vulnerable":"1","versionEndIncluding":"","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"a","cpe4":"google","cpe5":"tensorflow","cpe6":"2.7.0","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"},{"cve_year":"2022","cve_id":"23563","vulnerable":"1","versionEndIncluding":"2.5.2","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"a","cpe4":"google","cpe5":"tensorflow","cpe6":"*","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"},{"cve_year":"2022","cve_id":"23563","vulnerable":"1","versionEndIncluding":"2.6.2","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"a","cpe4":"google","cpe5":"tensorflow","cpe6":"*","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"}],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"CVE_data_meta":{"ASSIGNER":"security-advisories@github.com","ID":"CVE-2022-23563","STATE":"PUBLIC","TITLE":"Insecure temporary file in Tensorflow"},"affects":{"vendor":{"vendor_data":[{"product":{"product_data":[{"product_name":"tensorflow","version":{"version_data":[{"version_value":">= 2.7.0, < 2.7.1"},{"version_value":">= 2.6.0, < 2.6.3"},{"version_value":"< 2.5.3"}]}}]},"vendor_name":"tensorflow"}]}},"data_format":"MITRE","data_type":"CVE","data_version":"4.0","description":{"description_data":[{"lang":"eng","value":"Tensorflow is an Open Source Machine Learning Framework.
