Prior to version 2.8.11, `gradio` suffers from Improper Neutralization of Formula Elements in a CSV File. The `gradio` library has a flagging functionality which saves input/output data into a CSV file on the developer's computer. This can allow a user to save arbitrary text into the CSV file, such as commands. If a program like MS Excel opens such a file, then it automatically runs these commands, which could lead to arbitrary commands running on the user's computer. The problem has been patched as of `2.8.11`, which escapes the saved csv with single quotes. As a workaround, avoid opening csv files generated by `gradio` with Excel or similar spreadsheet programs.","state":"PUBLIC","assigner":"security-advisories@github.com","published_at":"2022-03-17 21:15:00","updated_at":"2022-03-24 13:00:00"},"problem_types":["CWE-1236"],"metrics":[],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/commit/80fea89117358ee105973453fdc402398ae20239","name":"https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/commit/80fea89117358ee105973453fdc402398ae20239","refsource":"MISC","tags":[],"title":"Merge pull request #817 from gradio-app/csv-sec · gradio-app/gradio@80fea89 · GitHub","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"404"},{"url":"https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/pull/817","name":"https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/pull/817","refsource":"MISC","tags":[],"title":"Sanitize flagging inputs before writing to csv by abidlabs · Pull Request #817 · gradio-app/gradio · GitHub","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"404"},{"url":"https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/security/advisories/GHSA-f8xq-q7px-wg8c","name":"https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/security/advisories/GHSA-f8xq-q7px-wg8c","refsource":"CONFIRM","tags":[],"title":"Improper Neutralization of Formula Elements in a CSV File in Gradio Flagging · Advisory · gradio-app/gradio · GitHub","mime":"text/html","httpstatus":"200","archivestatus":"404"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2022-24770","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2022-24770","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[{"cve_year":"2022","cve_id":"24770","vulnerable":"1","versionEndIncluding":"","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"a","cpe4":"gradio_project","cpe5":"gradio","cpe6":"*","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"python","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"}],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"CVE_data_meta":{"ASSIGNER":"security-advisories@github.com","ID":"CVE-2022-24770","STATE":"PUBLIC","TITLE":"Improper Neutralization of Formula Elements in a CSV File in Gradio Flagging"},"affects":{"vendor":{"vendor_data":[{"product":{"product_data":[{"product_name":"gradio","version":{"version_data":[{"version_value":"< 2.8.11"}]}}]},"vendor_name":"gradio-app"}]}},"data_format":"MITRE","data_type":"CVE","data_version":"4.0","description":{"description_data":[{"lang":"eng","value":"`gradio` is an open source framework for building interactive machine learning models and demos.
