The vulnerability exists because `alg_wc_ev_generate_user_code()` generates the per-user activation secret using `wp_rand(100)` when the plugin's 'Encoding method' is set to 'hashids', producing only ~101 possible values (~7 bits of entropy); the resulting token is a reversible Hashids encoding with no cryptographic MAC, and the unauthenticated `verify()` handler — hooked to `init` at `PHP_INT_MAX` with no nonce check and no rate limiting — accepts and acts on the attacker-controlled `?alg_wc_ev_verify_email=` GET parameter directly. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to gain authentication as any unverified WordPress account, including administrator-level accounts, by brute-forcing the trivially small activation code space via a forged verification URL. Exploitation requires that the 'Encoding method' setting be changed to 'hashids' (non-default), that the attacker recover or brute-force the Hashids salt (which defaults to an `md5(time())` value set at first initialization), and that the target account's email address remain unverified.","state":"PUBLISHED","assigner":"Wordfence","published_at":"2026-10-16 04:18:21","updated_at":"2026-10-16 04:18:21"},"problem_types":["CWE-269","CWE-269 CWE-269 Improper Privilege Management"],"metrics":[{"version":"3.1","source":"security@wordfence.com","type":"Primary","score":"8.1","severity":"HIGH","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","data":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","baseScore":8.1,"baseSeverity":"HIGH","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"HIGH","privilegesRequired":"NONE","userInteraction":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"HIGH","integrityImpact":"HIGH","availabilityImpact":"HIGH"}},{"version":"3.1","source":"CNA","type":"DECLARED","score":"8.1","severity":"HIGH","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","data":{"baseScore":8.1,"baseSeverity":"HIGH","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","version":"3.1"}}],"references":[{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/emails-verification-for-woocommerce/tags/3.3.0/includes/class-alg-wc-ev-core.php#L498","name":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/emails-verification-for-woocommerce/tags/3.3.0/includes/class-alg-wc-ev-core.php#L498","refsource":"security@wordfence.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3744623%40emails-verification-for-woocommerce&new=3744623%40emails-verification-for-woocommerce","name":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3744623%40emails-verification-for-woocommerce&new=3744623%40emails-verification-for-woocommerce","refsource":"security@wordfence.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/emails-verification-for-woocommerce/tags/3.3.0/includes/class-alg-wc-ev-core.php#L1258","name":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/emails-verification-for-woocommerce/tags/3.3.0/includes/class-alg-wc-ev-core.php#L1258","refsource":"security@wordfence.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/6df7b3ed-a1e3-4df9-828e-95530661e27a?source=cve","name":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/6df7b3ed-a1e3-4df9-828e-95530661e27a?source=cve","refsource":"security@wordfence.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/emails-verification-for-woocommerce/tags/3.3.0/includes/alg-wc-ev-functions.php#L331","name":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/emails-verification-for-woocommerce/tags/3.3.0/includes/alg-wc-ev-functions.php#L331","refsource":"security@wordfence.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/emails-verification-for-woocommerce/tags/3.3.0/includes/class-alg-wc-ev-core.php#L784","name":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/emails-verification-for-woocommerce/tags/3.3.0/includes/class-alg-wc-ev-core.php#L784","refsource":"security@wordfence.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-104745","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-104745","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[{"source":"CNA","vendor":"wpcodefactory","product":"Customer Email Verification for WooCommerce","version":"affected 3.3.0 semver","platforms":[]}],"timeline":[{"source":"CNA","time":"2026-10-02T12:19:20.000Z","lang":"en","value":"Vendor Notified"},{"source":"CNA","time":"2026-10-15T15:31:05.000Z","lang":"en","value":"Disclosed"}],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[{"source":"CNA","value":"Wordfence PRISM","lang":"en"}],"nvd_cpes":[],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"containers":{"cna":{"affected":[{"defaultStatus":"unaffected","product":"Customer Email Verification for WooCommerce","vendor":"wpcodefactory","versions":[{"lessThanOrEqual":"3.3.0","status":"affected","version":"0","versionType":"semver"}]}],"credits":[{"lang":"en","type":"finder","value":"Wordfence PRISM"}],"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The Customer Email Verification for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation via the `alg_wc_ev_verify_email` parameter in versions up to, and including, 3.3.0.
