Prior to 7.3.2, Astro's JSX and MDX rendering pipeline treats string children of script and style elements as trusted HTML without distinguishing compiler-generated literal content from dynamic expression values. An application that passes attacker-controlled data directly as a dynamic child can allow a value containing a closing script or style tag to terminate the element and inject arbitrary HTML and JavaScript. Other JSX expression contexts escape dynamic strings automatically; the issue is limited to script and style children rendered through the astro:jsx renderer, including MDX components. Successful exploitation can produce reflected or stored cross-site scripting under the application's origin. This issue is fixed in 7.3.2.","state":"PUBLISHED","assigner":"GitHub_M","published_at":"2026-10-21 18:17:25","updated_at":"2026-10-21 18:17:25"},"problem_types":["CWE-79","CWE-79 CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')"],"metrics":[{"version":"3.1","source":"security-advisories@github.com","type":"Secondary","score":"6.5","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","data":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","baseScore":6.5,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"LOW","privilegesRequired":"NONE","userInteraction":"REQUIRED","scope":"UNCHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"NONE","integrityImpact":"HIGH","availabilityImpact":"NONE"}},{"version":"3.1","source":"CNA","type":"DECLARED","score":"6.5","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","data":{"attackComplexity":"LOW","attackVector":"NETWORK","availabilityImpact":"NONE","baseScore":6.5,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","confidentialityImpact":"NONE","integrityImpact":"HIGH","privilegesRequired":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","userInteraction":"REQUIRED","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","version":"3.1"}}],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/withastro/astro/pull/17896","name":"https://github.com/withastro/astro/pull/17896","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/withastro/astro/releases/tag/astro@7.3.2","name":"https://github.com/withastro/astro/releases/tag/astro@7.3.2","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/withastro/astro/security/advisories/GHSA-98hj-9722-w3j8","name":"https://github.com/withastro/astro/security/advisories/GHSA-98hj-9722-w3j8","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/withastro/astro/commit/a548223607b9bb146d5d90ddda495343f9a2a739","name":"https://github.com/withastro/astro/commit/a548223607b9bb146d5d90ddda495343f9a2a739","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-114128","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-114128","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[{"source":"CNA","vendor":"withastro","product":"astro","version":"affected < 7.3.2","platforms":[]}],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"containers":{"cna":{"affected":[{"product":"astro","vendor":"withastro","versions":[{"status":"affected","version":"< 7.3.2"}]}],"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Astro is a web framework for content-driven websites.
