In versions 5.0.0 before 5.3.2 and 5.4.0 before 5.4.2, the widget-area entity serializes widgets only when the submitted value is an array, allowing a string submitted through the admin JSON API to be stored unchanged. Entity reads, including front-end rendering and API responses, deserialize the stored value with unserialize() without an allowed_classes restriction, accepting both raw and base64-encoded serialized data. An administrator, or an attacker who obtains widget-write capability through a separate vulnerability such as chained XSS, can plant an object graph that subsequently triggers on unauthenticated page requests. Two demonstrated gadget chains in the default dependency set use composer/composer ProcessExecutor::startJob() with Process::fromShellCommandline(), or logiscape/mcp-sdk-php StdioTransport::connect() with StdioServerParameters, to reach proc_open() and execute commands as the web-server user. Deserialization bypasses constructor-based readonly safeguards, and the stored payload can execute repeatedly until the database row is repaired. Unauthenticated page access is a trigger after privileged payload storage, not an unauthenticated means of initially planting the payload. This issue has been patched in versions 5.3.2 and 5.4.2.","state":"PUBLISHED","assigner":"GitHub_M","published_at":"2026-10-23 14:17:51","updated_at":"2026-10-23 16:28:32"},"problem_types":["CWE-502","CWE-502 CWE-502: Deserialization of Untrusted Data"],"metrics":[{"version":"3.1","source":"security-advisories@github.com","type":"Secondary","score":"7.2","severity":"HIGH","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","data":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","baseScore":7.2,"baseSeverity":"HIGH","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"LOW","privilegesRequired":"HIGH","userInteraction":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"HIGH","integrityImpact":"HIGH","availabilityImpact":"HIGH"}},{"version":"3.1","source":"CNA","type":"DECLARED","score":"7.2","severity":"HIGH","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","data":{"attackComplexity":"LOW","attackVector":"NETWORK","availabilityImpact":"HIGH","baseScore":7.2,"baseSeverity":"HIGH","confidentialityImpact":"HIGH","integrityImpact":"HIGH","privilegesRequired":"HIGH","scope":"UNCHANGED","userInteraction":"NONE","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","version":"3.1"}}],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/releases/tag/5.3.2","name":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/releases/tag/5.3.2","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/security/advisories/GHSA-xf6p-r2hc-cc6w","name":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/security/advisories/GHSA-xf6p-r2hc-cc6w","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/commit/59dfe61e193ae3274c195c15e7b185816d2db9db","name":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/commit/59dfe61e193ae3274c195c15e7b185816d2db9db","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/commit/38c778e92688e7f5d620a4c6b47ad7fb9e2c1529","name":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/commit/38c778e92688e7f5d620a4c6b47ad7fb9e2c1529","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/releases/tag/5.4.2","name":"https://github.com/baserproject/basercms/releases/tag/5.4.2","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-114624","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-114624","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[{"source":"CNA","vendor":"baserproject","product":"basercms","version":"affected >= 5.0.0, < 5.3.2","platforms":[]},{"source":"CNA","vendor":"baserproject","product":"basercms","version":"affected >= 5.4.0, < 5.4.2","platforms":[]}],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"containers":{"cna":{"affected":[{"product":"basercms","vendor":"baserproject","versions":[{"status":"affected","version":">= 5.0.0, < 5.3.2"},{"status":"affected","version":">= 5.4.0, < 5.4.2"}]}],"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"baserCMS is a website development framework.
