This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the vc_raw_html::render() method, which base64-decodes shortcode content (after a strip_tags() that is bypassed because the encoded payload contains no tags on save) and concatenates the result directly into the page HTML. Because WordPress's save-time wp_kses_post() filter only sees the inert base64 text inside a normal shortcode bracket and does not decode it, the dangerous tags survive into post_content and are emitted unescaped at render time. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page (for example, when an Editor or Administrator previews the pending post).","state":"PUBLISHED","assigner":"Wordfence","published_at":"2026-08-25 05:17:19","updated_at":"2026-09-28 23:10:00"},"problem_types":["CWE-79","CWE-79 CWE-79 Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')"],"metrics":[{"version":"3.1","source":"security@wordfence.com","type":"Secondary","score":"6.4","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","data":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","baseScore":6.4,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"LOW","privilegesRequired":"LOW","userInteraction":"NONE","scope":"CHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"LOW","integrityImpact":"LOW","availabilityImpact":"NONE"}},{"version":"3.1","source":"CNA","type":"DECLARED","score":"6.4","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","data":{"baseScore":6.4,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","version":"3.1"}}],"references":[{"url":"https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-page-builder-basics/","name":"https://tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-page-builder-basics/","refsource":"security@wordfence.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/48ae6e52-4a66-4676-9528-6f997ef54c7a?source=cve","name":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/48ae6e52-4a66-4676-9528-6f997ef54c7a?source=cve","refsource":"security@wordfence.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-12561","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-12561","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[{"source":"CNA","vendor":"tagDiv","product":"tagDiv Composer","version":"affected 5.4.5 semver","platforms":[]}],"timeline":[{"source":"CNA","time":"2026-08-24T15:27:36.000Z","lang":"en","value":"Disclosed"}],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[{"source":"CNA","value":"Truoc Phan","lang":"en"}],"nvd_cpes":[],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":{"cve_year":"2026","cve_id":"12561","cve":"CVE-2026-12561","epss":"0.001740000","percentile":"0.061140000","score_date":"2026-09-29","updated_at":"2026-09-30 00:11:21"},"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"containers":{"adp":[{"metrics":[{"other":{"content":{"id":"CVE-2026-12561","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"role":"CISA Coordinator","timestamp":"2026-08-25T12:05:17.442642Z","version":"2.0.3"},"type":"ssvc"}}],"providerMetadata":{"dateUpdated":"2026-08-25T12:06:05.846Z","orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","shortName":"CISA-ADP"},"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment"}],"cna":{"affected":[{"defaultStatus":"unaffected","product":"tagDiv Composer","vendor":"tagDiv","versions":[{"lessThanOrEqual":"5.4.5","status":"affected","version":"0","versionType":"semver"}]}],"credits":[{"lang":"en","type":"finder","value":"Truoc Phan"}],"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The tagDiv Composer plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the vc_raw_html shortcode in all versions up to and including 5.4.5.
