From version 4.0.0 to before version 4.14.4, multiple heap-based out-of-bounds WRITE vulnerabilities exist in parse_uname_string() (remoted_op.c). This function processes OS identification data from agents and contains a dangerous code pattern that appears in 4 locations within the same function: writing to strlen(ptr) - 1 without checking for empty strings. When the string is empty, strlen() returns 0, and 0 - 1 wraps to SIZE_MAX due to unsigned integer underflow. Due to pointer arithmetic wrapping, SIZE_MAX effectively becomes -1, causing a write exactly 1 byte before the allocated buffer. This corrupts heap metadata (e.g., the chunk size field in glibc malloc), leading to heap corruption. This issue has been patched in version 4.14.4.","state":"PUBLISHED","assigner":"GitHub_M","published_at":"2026-04-29 19:16:23","updated_at":"2026-05-01 13:01:08"},"problem_types":["CWE-124","CWE-191","CWE-124 CWE-124: Buffer Underwrite ('Buffer Underflow')","CWE-191 CWE-191: Integer Underflow (Wrap or Wraparound)"],"metrics":[{"version":"3.1","source":"security-advisories@github.com","type":"Secondary","score":"6.5","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","data":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","baseScore":6.5,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"LOW","privilegesRequired":"LOW","userInteraction":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"NONE","integrityImpact":"NONE","availabilityImpact":"HIGH"}},{"version":"3.1","source":"CNA","type":"DECLARED","score":"6.5","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","data":{"attackComplexity":"LOW","attackVector":"NETWORK","availabilityImpact":"HIGH","baseScore":6.5,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","confidentialityImpact":"NONE","integrityImpact":"NONE","privilegesRequired":"LOW","scope":"UNCHANGED","userInteraction":"NONE","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"}}],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/wazuh/wazuh/releases/tag/v4.14.4","name":"https://github.com/wazuh/wazuh/releases/tag/v4.14.4","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":["Release Notes"],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/wazuh/wazuh/security/advisories/GHSA-qvqj-p8mm-r7h3","name":"https://github.com/wazuh/wazuh/security/advisories/GHSA-qvqj-p8mm-r7h3","refsource":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","tags":["Vendor Advisory"],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-41499","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-41499","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[{"source":"CNA","vendor":"wazuh","product":"wazuh","version":"affected >= 4.0.0, < 4.14.4","platforms":[]}],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[{"cve_year":"2026","cve_id":"41499","vulnerable":"1","versionEndIncluding":"","cpe1":"cpe","cpe2":"2.3","cpe3":"a","cpe4":"wazuh","cpe5":"wazuh","cpe6":"*","cpe7":"*","cpe8":"*","cpe9":"*","cpe10":"*","cpe11":"*","cpe12":"*","cpe13":"*"}],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":{"cve_year":"2026","cve_id":"41499","cve":"CVE-2026-41499","epss":"0.000400000","percentile":"0.118530000","score_date":"2026-04-30","updated_at":"2026-05-01 00:10:51"},"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"containers":{"adp":[{"metrics":[{"other":{"content":{"id":"CVE-2026-41499","options":[{"Exploitation":"poc"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"role":"CISA Coordinator","timestamp":"2026-04-29T18:31:03.330693Z","version":"2.0.3"},"type":"ssvc"}}],"providerMetadata":{"dateUpdated":"2026-04-29T18:31:46.154Z","orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","shortName":"CISA-ADP"},"references":[{"tags":["exploit"],"url":"https://github.com/wazuh/wazuh/security/advisories/GHSA-qvqj-p8mm-r7h3"}],"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment"}],"cna":{"affected":[{"product":"wazuh","vendor":"wazuh","versions":[{"status":"affected","version":">= 4.0.0, < 4.14.4"}]}],"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response.
