Prior to version 4.2.15.Final, Netty QUIC exposes the stateless reset token on the network path when using the default HMAC-based connection-ID and stateless-reset-token generators. The reset token for the server's current source connection ID can be derived from bytes that appear as the connection ID in QUIC headers after a source-CID rotation. An on-path attacker observing the headers can use the token to perform a Denial of Service by sending a spoofed Stateless Reset packet. Version 4.2.15.Final patches the issue.","state":"PUBLISHED","assigner":"GitHub_M","published_at":"2026-06-12 16:16:31","updated_at":"2026-06-12 16:18:27"},"problem_types":["CWE-200","CWE-330","CWE-200 CWE-200: Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor","CWE-330 CWE-330: Use of Insufficiently Random Values"],"metrics":[{"version":"3.1","source":"security-advisories@github.com","type":"Secondary","score":"4.8","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:L","data":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:L","baseScore":4.8,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"HIGH","privilegesRequired":"NONE","userInteraction":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"LOW","integrityImpact":"NONE","availabilityImpact":"LOW"}},{"version":"3.1","source":"CNA","type":"DECLARED","score":"4.8","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:L","data":{"attackComplexity":"HIGH","attackVector":"NETWORK","availabilityImpact":"LOW","baseScore":4.8,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","confidentialityImpact":"LOW","integrityImpact":"NONE","privilegesRequired":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","userInteraction":"NONE","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:L","version":"3.1"}}],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/netty/netty/security/advisories/GHSA-cq4q-cv5g-r8q5","name":"https://github.com/netty/netty/security/advisories/GHSA-cq4q-cv5g-r8q5","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/netty/netty/releases/tag/netty-4.2.15.Final","name":"https://github.com/netty/netty/releases/tag/netty-4.2.15.Final","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-50009","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-50009","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[{"source":"CNA","vendor":"netty","product":"netty","version":"affected >= 4.2.0.Final, < 4.2.15.Final","platforms":[]}],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"containers":{"cna":{"affected":[{"product":"netty","vendor":"netty","versions":[{"status":"affected","version":">= 4.2.0.Final, < 4.2.15.Final"}]}],"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Netty is a network application framework for development of protocol servers and clients.
