Versions prior to 0.4.12 have a vulnerability in the custom HTTP server implementation of AirSane that allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via memory exhaustion (OOM). In httpserver.cpp, the HttpServer::Request::content function reads the Content-Length header and directly passes this value to std::string::resize() without any upper-bound validation or safe parsing. An attacker can send an HTTP POST request with an artificially large Content-Length value. This forces the daemon to attempt allocating gigabytes of memory, resulting in a std::bad_alloc exception and immediately crashing the AirSane process. Additionally, providing non-numeric characters in the Content-Length header leads to undefined behavior (NaN to integer conversion) due to the lack of error handling during header parsing. Version 0.4.12 patches the issue.","state":"PUBLISHED","assigner":"GitHub_M","published_at":"2026-09-11 20:17:14","updated_at":"2026-09-11 20:17:14"},"problem_types":["CWE-400","CWE-770","CWE-400 CWE-400: Uncontrolled Resource Consumption","CWE-770 CWE-770: Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling"],"metrics":[{"version":"3.1","source":"security-advisories@github.com","type":"Secondary","score":"7.5","severity":"HIGH","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","data":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","baseScore":7.5,"baseSeverity":"HIGH","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"LOW","privilegesRequired":"NONE","userInteraction":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"NONE","integrityImpact":"NONE","availabilityImpact":"HIGH"}},{"version":"3.1","source":"CNA","type":"DECLARED","score":"7.5","severity":"HIGH","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","data":{"attackComplexity":"LOW","attackVector":"NETWORK","availabilityImpact":"HIGH","baseScore":7.5,"baseSeverity":"HIGH","confidentialityImpact":"NONE","integrityImpact":"NONE","privilegesRequired":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","userInteraction":"NONE","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"}}],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/security/advisories/GHSA-p5hv-3m79-452q","name":"https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/security/advisories/GHSA-p5hv-3m79-452q","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/commit/129cc3bf7258251a0a694dee7741285b59d88f9f","name":"https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/commit/129cc3bf7258251a0a694dee7741285b59d88f9f","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/releases/tag/v0.4.12","name":"https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/releases/tag/v0.4.12","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-54135","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-54135","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[{"source":"CNA","vendor":"SimulPiscator","product":"AirSane","version":"affected < 0.4.12","platforms":[]}],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"containers":{"cna":{"affected":[{"product":"AirSane","vendor":"SimulPiscator","versions":[{"status":"affected","version":"< 0.4.12"}]}],"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"AirSane is a SANE frontend, and a scanner server that supports Apple's AirScan protocol.
