Prior to 0.8.18, an attacker who can send an HTTP request to a server running the LangSmith SDK's TracingMiddleware can cause that server to read an arbitrary file from its local filesystem and upload the contents to LangSmith as a trace attachment. Depending on how the distributed trace system is deployed, triggering a read may not require authentication. Retrieving the contents requires read access to the LangSmith workspace the traces are sent to. The net effect is a trust-boundary crossing: a party with workspace trace-read access (for example a low-privilege workspace member, a contractor, or a compromised teammate account) gains the ability to read files from any server running TracingMiddleware, a capability outside that workspace's intended trust boundary. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.8.18.","state":"PUBLISHED","assigner":"GitHub_M","published_at":"2026-07-06 16:16:37","updated_at":"2026-07-06 18:24:39"},"problem_types":["CWE-22","CWE-346","CWE-843","CWE-22 CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')","CWE-346 CWE-346: Origin Validation Error","CWE-843 CWE-843: Access of Resource Using Incompatible Type ('Type Confusion')"],"metrics":[{"version":"3.1","source":"security-advisories@github.com","type":"Secondary","score":"5","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N","data":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N","baseScore":5,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"LOW","privilegesRequired":"LOW","userInteraction":"NONE","scope":"CHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"LOW","integrityImpact":"NONE","availabilityImpact":"NONE"}},{"version":"3.1","source":"CNA","type":"DECLARED","score":"5","severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N","data":{"attackComplexity":"LOW","attackVector":"NETWORK","availabilityImpact":"NONE","baseScore":5,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","confidentialityImpact":"LOW","integrityImpact":"NONE","privilegesRequired":"LOW","scope":"CHANGED","userInteraction":"NONE","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N","version":"3.1"}}],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/langchain-ai/langsmith-sdk/security/advisories/GHSA-f4xh-w4cj-qxq8","name":"https://github.com/langchain-ai/langsmith-sdk/security/advisories/GHSA-f4xh-w4cj-qxq8","refsource":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"title":"","mime":"","httpstatus":"","archivestatus":"0"},{"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-59152","name":"CVE Program record","refsource":"CVE.ORG","tags":["canonical"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-59152","name":"NVD vulnerability detail","refsource":"NVD","tags":["canonical","analysis"]}],"affected":[{"source":"CNA","vendor":"langchain-ai","product":"langsmith-sdk","version":"affected < 0.8.18","platforms":[]}],"timeline":[],"solutions":[],"workarounds":[],"exploits":[],"credits":[],"nvd_cpes":[],"vendor_comments":[],"enrichments":{"kev":null,"epss":null,"legacy_qids":[]},"source_records":{"cve_program":{"containers":{"cna":{"affected":[{"product":"langsmith-sdk","vendor":"langchain-ai","versions":[{"status":"affected","version":"< 0.8.18"}]}],"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"LangSmith Client SDKs provide SDK's for interacting with the LangSmith platform.
