Discussion

Procmail Formail Utility CVE-2017-16844 Heap Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

The Formail utility for Procmail is prone to a heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to adequately bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it to an insufficiently sized memory buffer.

Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts may result in a denial-of-service condition.

Procmail 3.22 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
