InetUtils TFTP Client Multiple Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities

InetUtils tftp client is reported prone to multiple remote buffer overflow vulnerabilities. This issue presents itself due to the application failing to perform sufficient boundary checks on user-supplied data.

Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities may result in process memory corruption, ultimately leading to a compromise.

InetUtils 1.4.2 is reported vulnerable to these issues, however, it is possible that other versions are affected as well.

InetUtils TFTP Client Multiple Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities

Solution:
SuSE has released a security summary report (SUSE-SR:2004:001) to
address these and other issues. The report indicates that fixes for these
issues are available on the SuSE FTP server and also through the YaST
Online Update utility. Customers are advised to peruse the referenced
advisory for further details regarding obtaining and applying appropriate
fixes.
