PowerArchiver Long Filename Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

A remote buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the PowerArchiver application that could result in arbitrary code execution. This issue arises because the application fails to perform boundary checks prior to copying user-supplied data into sensitive process buffers.

An attacker may exploit this vulnerability to gain unauthorized remote access in the context of SYSTEM. Further attacks are also possible.

Solution:
The vendor has released updates for PowerArchiver 2004 version 9.26 and PowerArchiver 2006 Beta 6 which address this issue.
