W3Filer Banner Handling Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

W3Filer is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized buffer.

Attackers may exploit this issue by enticing victims into using the affected application to connect to a malicious site.

Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of user running the application. Failed attempts will likely cause denial-of-service conditions.

W3Filer 2.1.3 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
