Norman Virus Control ACE Parsing Buffer-Overflow Vulnerability

Norman Virus Control is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized buffer.

An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the application. Successfully exploiting this issue will result in the complete compromise of affected computers. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions.

This issue affects Virus Control 5.90; other versions may also be vulnerable.
