Discussion

NetBSD SHA2 Implementation Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

The NetBSD SHA2 implementation is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability that affects applications using the implementation and linking against 'libcrypto'.

Attackers may exploit this issue to cause denial-of-service conditions on applications using the vulnerable library. Given the nature of this issue and depending on the way the library is used, attackers may also be able to execute code, but this has not been confirmed.
