Discussion

OpenOffice EMF File Parser Remote Command Execution Vulnerability

OpenOffice is prone to a remote command-execution vulnerability because the software fails to properly handle specially crafted files.

An attacker could exploit this issue by enticing a victim to open a malicious document.

Successful exploits would allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the currently logged-in user.

NOTE: This issue may be related to the issues described in BID 36186 (OpenOffice Prior to 3.1.1 Multiple Unspecified Security Vulnerabilities). We will update this BID when more information becomes available.
