Discussion

Allaire JRun JSP File Disclosure Vulnerability

Allaire JRun is a web application development suite with JSP and Java Servlets. Each web application directory contains a WEB-INF or META-INF directory, these directories contain information on web application classes, pre-compiled JSP files, server side libraries, session information and files such as web.xml and webapp.properties.

JRun contains a vulnerability which could allow a remote user to view JSP files contained within the WEB-INF or META-INF directory. By requesting a specially crafted URL any JSP file residing in either directory will be revealed.

It should be noted that this vulnerability was initially reported in JRun 3.0, subsequently changes made in Jrun 3.1 has re-introduced this issue. However in contrast to the original issue only JSP files are revealed.
