Discussion
Adobe Reader and Acrobat 'AcroPDF.dll' ActiveX Control Denial of Service Vulnerability
Adobe Reader and Acrobat are prone to a denial-of-service vulnerability in the 'AcroPDF.dll' ActiveX control.
An attacker can exploit this issue by enticing an unsuspecting victim to view a malicious webpage.
Successful exploits may allow the attacker to crash the affected application that uses the ActiveX control (typically Internet explorer), denying service to legitimate users.
This issue affects versions *prior to* Reader and Acrobat 7.1.4, 8.1.7, and 9.2.
This issue was previously covered in BID 36638 (Adobe Reader and Acrobat October 2009 Multiple Remote Vulnerabilities), but has been given its own record to better document it.
