glibc and eglibc 'nis/nss_nis/nis-pwd.c' Remote Information Disclosure Vulnerability

The 'glibc' and 'eglibc' libraries are prone to a remote information-disclosure vulnerability because they fail to properly restrict access to encrypted passwords.

Exploiting this issue will allow attackers to obtain sensitive information that can help them launch further attacks.

NOTE: This issue can be triggered by the NIS server under Solaris; other applications may also be affected.

This issue affects glibc 2.7 and eglibc 2.10.2; other versions are also likely affected.
