Discussion
Askey ADSL Router NMap Scan Denial Of Service Vulnerability
The RTA-020 ADSL router is a high speed Internet access solution manufactured by Askey. It is available through Askey and Askey resellers.
The problem affects Askey routers configured in routing mode. When an Askey router is configured with an IP address, it may be possible to crash the router. When the router is portscanned by a tool such as nmap, which is capable of producing a high amount of TCP connect() requests in a short period of time, the router becomes unstable and crashes. A power-cycling is required to resume normal functionality.
