Discussion

Sygate Personal Firewall 'SSHelper.dll' ActiveX Control Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Sygate Personal Firewall ActiveX control is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data.

Successful exploits will allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the vulnerable application, typically Internet Explorer, using the ActiveX control. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions.

Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6 build 2808 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
