Discussion

libHX 'HX_split()' Remote Heap-Based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

libHX is prone to a remote heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly validate user-supplied input.

Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of the user running the application that uses the affected library. Failed exploit attempts may result in a denial-of-service condition.

libHX 3.5 is affected; other versions may also be vulnerable.
