Python SSL Module SSL Certificate Common Name Validation Security Bypass Vulnerability
The Python SSL module is prone to a security-bypass vulnerability because the library fails to properly validate SSL certificates from a server.
Successfully exploiting this issue allows attackers to perform man-in-the-middle attacks or impersonate trusted servers. This will aid in further attacks.
Python SSL 1.15 and prior are vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
Applications using the affected module may also be affected. Known applications include:
Mercurial 1.6.3 and prior
Bazaar (bzr) 2.2.1 and prior
Apache libcloud
Linode linode-python
