Discussion

PHP ZipArchive::getArchiveComment() NULL Pointer Dereference Denial Of Service Vulnerability

PHP is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability caused by a NULL pointer dereference.

An attacker can exploit this issue to cause the application to crash, denying service to legitimate users. Due to the nature of the issue, code execution may be possible; however, it has not been confirmed.

PHP 5.2 and 5.3 are vulnerable.

An attacker can use readily available tools to exploit this issue.

The following proof-of-concept code is available:
