Discussion

Apple iOS Telephony Baseband Processor Heap Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Apple iOS is prone to a heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability in the Telephony component because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. This issue affects GSM mobility management.

Attackers may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code on the baseband processor. Successful attacks will completely compromise an affected device. Failed attacks will cause denial-of-service conditions.

Versions prior to iOS 4.2 are vulnerable.
