Discussion

Icecast/Libshout Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Icecast is a freely available, open source streaming audio server. Icecast is available for the Unix, Linux, and Microsoft Windows platforms. Libshout is a development library for making connections and sending data to Icecast servers.

Icecast and the Libshout library are prone to a remotely exploitable buffer overflow condition. This may enable an attacker to execute code with the privileges of the Icecast server (vulnerable versions normally run as root) or potentially deny service to legitimate users.
