Discussion

Apple Mac OS X QuickTime Movie File Handling Memory Corruption Vulnerability

Apple Mac OS X is prone to a memory-corruption vulnerability in QuickTime when handling a specially crafted movie file.

An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.

NOTE: This issue was previously discussed in BID 48412 (Apple Mac OS X Prior to 10.6.8 Multiple Security Vulnerabilities) but has been given its own record to better document it.
