Discussion

Apple Safari CFNetwork Root Certificate Security Bypass Vulnerability

Apple Safari is prone to a security-bypass vulnerability.

An attacker can exploit this issue to accept forged root certificates. Successfully exploiting this issue allows attackers to perform man-in-the-middle attacks or impersonate trusted servers, which will aid in further attacks.

NOTE: This issue was previously discussed in 48808 (Apple Safari Prior to 5.1 and 5.0.6 Multiple Security Vulnerabilities) but has been given its own record to better document it.
