phpMyAdmin CVE-2013-5001 Cross Site Scripting Vulnerability

phpMyAdmin is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because it fails to sanitize user-supplied input submitted to it.

An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This can allow the attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials and to launch other attacks.

NOTE: This issue was previously covered in BID 61493 (phpMyAdmin Multiple SQL Injection and Cross Site Scripting Vulnerabilities) but has been assigned its own record to better document it.

phpMyAdmin 4.0.x prior to 4.0.4.2 are vulnerable.
