Discussion

Sun SAM-FS File System Deadlock Denial of Service Vulnerability

A bug in the Sun SAM-FS file system implementation may make it possible to trigger a local denial of service on some Solaris systems. The problem is said to occur when applications create large files and subsequently truncate to a non-zero file. When this occurs, a deadlock in the file system may occur, effectively rendering the system unusable.
