QID 150509: Lighttpd Server Path Traversal Vulnerability (CVE-2018-19052)

Lighttpd is a secure, fast, compliant, and very flexible web-server that has been optimized for high-performance environment.

An issue was discovered in mod_alias_physical_handler in mod_alias.c in lighttpd. There is potential ../ path traversal of a single directory above an alias target, with a specific mod_alias configuration where the matched alias lacks a trailing '/' character, but the alias target filesystem path does have a trailing '/' character.

Affected versions:
lighttpd before 1.4.35

QID Detection Logic (Unauthenticated):
This QID sends a HTTP GET request and checks the response headers to confirm if the host is running vulnerable version of lighttpd Server.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow remote attackers to read sensitive files on the target server.
