QID 150511: F5 BIG-IP iControl REST Remote Code Execution (RCE) Vulnerability (CVE-2022-1388)

F5 BIG-IP is vulnerable to an authentication bypass vulnerability in the iControl REST API where undisclosed requests may bypass iControl REST authentication. The iControl REST API is used for the management and configuration of BIG-IP devices.

QID Detection Logic (Unauthenticated):
This QID sends a HTTP POST request to the "/mgmt/tm/util/bash" endpoint with a crafted payload and based on the response confirms vulnerable instances of F5 BIG-IP.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to bypass authentication and execute arbitrary commands with root privileges on the target system.
