QID 150647: dotCMS Authenticated Directory Traversal Vulnerability (CVE-2022-45783)

dotCMS is an open source content management system written in Java for managing content and content driven sites and applications.

An authenticated directory traversal vulnerability in the dotCMS API could result in Remote Code Execution (RCE). The vulnerability is caused by the acceptance and extraction of a zip file at the "/api/integrity/_fixconflictsfromremote" endpoint without proper path traversal checking. Attackers can exploit this by sending a specially crafted zip file that contains directory traversal characters in the file names, allowing them to extract the contents at an arbitrary path within the system. This vulnerability requires Admin-level privileges to be exploited.

Affected versions:
dotCMS versions 22.10.1 and below

QID Detection Logic (Unauthenticated):
This QID performs a HTTP GET request to the "/api/v1/appconfiguration" endpoint and examines the response body to determine if the host is running a vulnerable version of the dotCMS Server.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
