QID 150722: Openfire Path Traversal Vulnerability (CVE-2023-32315)

Openfire (formerly Wildfire) is a cross-platform real-time collaboration server based on the XMPP protocol.

Openfires administrative console (the Admin Console), a web-based application, was found to be vulnerable to a path traversal attack via the setup environment. This permitted an unauthenticated user to use the unauthenticated Openfire Setup Environment in an already configured Openfire environment to access restricted pages in the Openfire Admin Console reserved for administrative users.

Affected Versions:
Openfire from 3.10.0 to 4.6.8
Openfire from 4.7.0 to 4.7.5

QID Detection Logic:
This QID sends a HTTP GET request and checks the response to confirm if the host is running vulnerable version of Openfire.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow remote attackers to read sensitive files on the target server.
