A vulnerability in the Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS) protocol of Cisco IOS Software and Cisco IOS XE Software could allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on an affected device.

Affected Products:
This vulnerability affects Cisco platforms if they are running a vulnerable release of Cisco IOS or IOS XE Software, are configured for the IS-IS routing protocol, and perform as a Level 1 or Level 1-2 router.

QID Detection Logic (Authenticated):
The check matches Cisco IOS and IOS XE version retrieved via Unix Auth using "show version" command.
QID Detection Logic (Unauthenticated):
The check matches Cisco IOS and IOS XE version retrieved via SNMP or TCP/IP Fingerprint or NTP or Telnet.
Note: This QID does not check for IS-IS area authentication configuration. Hence set as Practice

A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause the affected device to reload, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition.
