QID 356976: Amazon Linux Security Advisory for libxml2 : AL2012-2023-460

Package updates are available for Amazon Linux that fix the following vulnerabilities:
CVE-2023-39615:
Xmlsoft Libxml2 v2.11.0 was discovered to contain a global buffer overflow via the xmlSAX2StartElement() function at /libxml2/SAX2.c. This vulnerability allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via supplying a crafted XML file. CVE-2017-16931:
parser.c in libxml2 before 2.9.5 mishandles parameter-entity references because the NEXTL macro calls the xmlParserHandlePEReference function in the case of a '%' character in a DTD name.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to a security breach or could affect integrity, availability, and confidentiality.
