VMware Tools is a suite of utilities that enhances the performance of the virtual machine guest operating system and improves management of the virtual machine running on VMware.

CVE-2021-21997: A malicious actor with local user privileges in the Windows guest operating system, where VMware Tools is installed, can trigger a PANIC in the VM3DMP driver leading to a denial-of-service condition in the Windows guest operating system. Affected Versions:
VMware Tools version from 9.0.0 prior to 11.3.0.

Solution

To remediate this issue update to VMware Tools version VMware Tools 11.3 or later
