QID 375773: F5 BIG-IP Application Security Manager(ASM) REST API Vulnerability (K23203045)

F5 BIG-IP ASM (Application Security Manager) is a flexible web application firewall that secures web applications in traditional, virtual, and private cloud environments.

BIG-IP ASM is missing authorization checks for file uploads to a specific directory within the REST API, which might allow authenticated users with guest privileges to upload files. (CVE-2021-23014)

Vulnerable Component: BIG-IP ASM

Affected Versions:
16.0.0 - 16.0.1.0
15.1.0 - 15.1.2
14.1.0 - 14.1.3

QID Detection Logic(Authenticated):
This QID checks for the vulnerable versions of F5 BIG-IP devices using the tmsh command.

If an attacker has network access to the BIG-IP ASM devices and has authenticated with guest privileges, the attacker could upload files to the BIG-IP ASM devices via the REST API. This may allow the attacker to upload and overwrite a limited set of files on BIG-IP ASM systems.
