QID 378086: Zoom Rooms Remote Code Execution (RCE) Vulnerability (ZSB-23005)

Zoom Rooms is a software-based room system that provides an integrated experience for audio conferencing, wireless screen sharing, and video conferencing.

Zoom room clients prior to 5.13.5 contain an improper trust boundary implementation vulnerability.

Affected Versions:
Zoom Rooms client versions before 5.13.5

QID Detection Logic:
Windows: This authenticated QID detects vulnerable version of Zoom Rooms using registry "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\zoomroom\DefaultIcon" and "HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Classes\zoomroom\DefaultIcon"
MacOS: Checks for installed vulnerable version of Zoom Rooms.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow an attacker gaining access to a user's device and data, and remote code execution.

CVSS V3 rated as Critical - 8.3 severity.

CVSS V2 rated as Medium - 4.3 severity.

Solution

Customers are advised to upgrade to Zoom Rooms 5.13.5 or later to remediate these vulnerabilities.
