QID 38914: Arecont Vision Camera Default Password Security Issue

Arecont Vision is a manufacturer of security cameras.

The user name and password for the Arecont Vision Camera are set to the manufacturer's default values, allowing unauthorized attackers to gain unauthorized access to the camera and launch further attacks.

The default credentials for Arecont Vision Camera are

username: "admin" and password: "admin"
username: "admin" and password: "AVCostar"

Successful exploitation of this security issue could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to gain complete access to unauthorized access to the camera and launch further attacks.

CVSS V2 rated as Critical - 9.3 severity.

Solution

Customers are advised to configure username and password combinations that are difficult to guess for a malicious user.
