QID 45571: DigiCert Trusted Root G4 Certificate Not Present on Host for Windows Qualys Cloud Agent Version 4.8 and Later

Qualys validates windows agent binary files downloaded from the Qualys Cloud Platform is code-signed via Digicert certificates. A recent patch catalog update included a renewed certificate. Because of this update, certificate validation seems to be failing for pre-requisite manifest. This issue may specifically occur on machines which do not have direct access to internet or has strict policies in place which prevents updates to cert store In order for Patch Management to work, assets should have the following certificates installed in their environment: "DigiCert Trusted Root G4" "DigiCert Trusted G4 Code Signing RSA4090 SHA384 2021 CA1". Affected Version:
Windows Qualys Cloud Agent Version 4.8 and Later

QID Detection Logic
The QID checks if the 'DigiCert Trusted Root G4' certificate is installed or not.

If those certificates are missing the status of patches (in job progress) will be displayed as "Failed". Each failed patch will have the 4317 OS Status error code. The agent will fail to validate the digital signature and will log the following error in the log file. The following entry will present in the log file: Error: Patch: Failed to initialize patch scanner - HRESULT: 800710dd, Error: (win32 code: 4317), "The operation identifier is not valid."

Solution
Install the required Digicert Certificate. For more please refer to Qualys Blog: Qualys Patch Management Update: Action needed to update certificate
