QID 730091: WordPress WP Statistics Plugin SQL Injection Vulnerability

WordPress is an open source blogging tool and content management system based on PHP and MySQL. It has many features including a plug-in architecture and a template system. WP Statistics is a visitor statistics plugin for WordPress.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data in the "ID" and "type" input parameters in "esc_sql" function. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request to the affected application and extract sensitive data from the site, such as user emails, password hashes, encryption keys and salts.

Affected Versions:
WordPress WP Statistics plugin before and till version 13.0.7.

QID Detection Logic:
This unauthenticated detection depends on the BlindElephant engine to detect the version of the WP Statistics plugin in any WordPress installation as active attacks could potentially harm live installations.

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary SQL queries in database.
