QID 730705: Meinberg NTP Server accessible via Default Credentials

The Meinberg NTP package provides a GUI setup program for Windows which installs the NTP service and associated executable programs.

QID Detection Logic:(Unauthenticated):
This QID sends HTTP GET request to '/cgi-bin/mainv2' with credentials 'root:timeserver'

A remote attacker could access Meinberg NTP Serve to perform malicious activities.

CVSS V3 rated as Critical - 9.8 severity.

CVSS V2 rated as Critical - 10 severity.

Solution

Customers are advised not to use default credentials.
