Apache Tomcat is an open source web server and servlet container developed by the Apache Software Foundation.

Affected Versions:
Apache Tomcat versions 6.0.0-6.0.37
Apache Tomcat versions 7.0.0 -7.0.42
Apache Tomcat versions 8.x before 8.0.0-RC3

QID Detection Logic (Unauthenticated):
This QID sends a HTTP GET request to an invalid URL and based on the response confirms the vulnerable instance of Apache Tomcat running on the host.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow attacker to trigger incorrect identification of a request's length and conduct request-smuggling attacks.

CVSS V3 rated as High - 6.5 severity.

CVSS V2 rated as Medium - 5.8 severity.

Solution

Customers are advised to upgrade Apache Tomcat to the new version to remediate this vulnerability.
