QID 731247: WordPress Wpvivid-backuprestore SQL Injection Vulnerability

WPvivid Backup and Migration Plugin offers backup migration and staging (create a staging site on a subdirectory to safely test WordPress plugins, themes and website changes) as basic features.

CVE-2024-1981 : The Migration Backup Staging WPvivid plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to SQL Injection via the table prefix parameter in version 0.9.68 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query.

WordPress wpvivid-backuprestore before 0.9.69

This unauthenticated detection checks for installed vulnerable version for wpvivid-backuprestore Plugin using Blind Elephant Fingerprint technique.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.

CVSS V3 rated as Critical - 9.8 severity.

CVSS V2 rated as Critical - 10 severity.

Solution

Customers are advised to install Wpvivid-backuprestore 0.9.69 or later version to remediate this vulnerability.
